Emerging Markets Fall as ‘Everything Down Vibe’ Hits Assets

Emerging market assets declined as investors took some risk off the table, with sentiment dented by a retreat in gold prices and a prolonged US government shutdown.
An MSCI gauge of currencies in the developing world fell 0.2%, putting it on track for a weekly loss, while a similar index for stocks dropped 0.5%. Chinese tech firms including Tencent Holdings Ltd. and Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. were among the biggest decliners.
