MercadoLibre Works With Brazil Regulators in a Push for Pharma

MercadoLibre Inc. is in talks with Brazilian regulators as part of its push to allow pharmacies to sell medications on the company’s local marketplace.
It says it’s replicating a move it has implemented across other markets like Mexico, Argentina, Chile and Colombia. MercadoLibre’s main obstacle in this case is Brazilian regulation, which doesn’t allow marketplaces to mediate the sale of medicines.
